Sail away on the cruise of your dreams on the Wind Surf – a ship that has been called the most distinctive of the cruise ships. The casual ambiance of the trip offers rest and relaxation away from all the stresses of daily life. There are dinner buffets and fabulous lunches and with only 150 passengers it is quite easy to make conversation. It is not a luxury ship, nor is it sophisticated, but because of its smaller size, it takes you to less travelled ports of call that the larger cruise ships cannot enter.
Accommodations
There are only two categories of cabins on the Wind Surf – standard cabins with portholes and suites. However, the suites do not have balconies. A suite is basically two cabins made into one, which gives you a little more room for an armchair. None of the rooms contain a mini-bar and the twin beds do convert into a queen size bed if you ask. Although the bathrooms are roomy, they do not have a bathtub – only a shower.
Dining
Passengers love dining at La Veranda, with its open seating and buffet breakfast and lunch. There is no shortage of choices in food. If you prefer fast food, then the Grill has breakfast items as well as burgers, hot dogs and fries for lunch. At night, the Restaurant and the Bistro are open for dinner with good food and good service. The Bistro does require reservations, but there is no extra charge. These restaurants also have lots of tables for two.
On this cruise, you can enjoy a variety of different foods according to the theme of the evening – Mediterranean nights and such delights as sushi served during cocktail hour. If you like eating later, there is 24-hour room service although the selection is rather limited.
Entertainment
The Lounge is the place to go if you want to enjoy some dancing. If you want a place to have a quiet cocktail, try the Compass Rose and the Cigar Bar is also a great place where you can cozy up with your loved one. There is a beautiful library, but although there is plenty of space, there are not many books. With 10 workstations, you won’t have any difficulty keeping in touch with home via email.
There is not a lot to do on the Wind Surf because rest and relaxation is the general theme of this cruise. There are no programs or activities for children, which is why you won’t see any children on the ship. This is not a family-oriented cruise. While there is a casino it is very small. In addition to the watersports programs, which go over well, there are some art auctions. Other than that, this is a cruise where you can lounge around, take a dip in the pool or work out on one of the few machines in the fitness center.
