The atmosphere on the Zaandam was inspired by such things as the world’s great music, artefacts and memorabilia. Here you will find a guitar signed by the Rolling Stones and other relics of music legends. You will be in awe as you explore what this ship has to offer such as the three story atrium and you will be amazed by the Baroque-style Dutch pipe organ that makes its home here. This ship that carries 1,432 passengers and a crew of 647 members makes a combination of fun, excitement and pampering throughout your cruise. It will sail you away to the cruise of your dreams and one that will go down in history.
Accommodations
The 1159 square foot Penthouse Suites leave nothing for you to desire when it is tastefully decorated as these are. They hold lots of amenities such as a king size bed, an oversized whirlpool bath and shower, a dressing room, a living and dining room, a private veranda, a pantry, a sofa bed that sleeps two people, a guest toilet, and most of all floor to ceiling windows where the view is priceless.
The Deluxe Veranda Suites offers a king size bed, whirlpool bath and shower, a large sitting area, a private veranda, a sofa bed that sleeps two people and best of all, the floor to ceiling windows. This suite measures 556 sq ft. Veranda Suites offer a queen bed that converts to two twin beds when necessary. They also offer a whirlpool bath and shower, floor to ceiling windows and a sitting area for relaxing. This suite measures 292 sq ft.
The Large Outside Staterooms measure 197 sq ft. However, they have portholes instead of windows and with some of these, fully obstructed views. It also has a sofa bed and a Pullman upper berth. The Large Inside staterooms also offers a queen bed plus, a sofa bed and a Pullman upper berth. These measure 182sq ft.
Dining
Imagine chandeliers and palm trees as you dine on the finest cuisine and a wine list that is as extensive as any five star restaurant. This is what the main dining room of the Zaandam offers to it’s guests. Dine on such things as Portabello Mushroom pot pie, or Cherry Glazed Duck breast by servers that are as excellent as the food they serve.
Visit the Pinnacle Grill where you dine by reservation only but you will be so glad you did. This place oozes with romance and candlelight so for an evening out with that special someone this is the place you need to be. They offer a five course meal and an extensive wine list. You meal is served on the finest china which is placed on crisp white linen.
For a little more relaxed atmosphere, dine at the Lido Restaurant. Here you can order from a full menu without the sophistication of the Pinnacle. You can start your day with breakfast and they also serve lunch and dinner. For the ultimate in casual, try the Terrace Grill, where you can pick up goodies such as burgers and fries, hotdogs and tacos.
Entertainment
If you’re looking for a hideaway you may find it at Explorations Café, where you can sip on a cup of coffee as you browse through a newspaper or choose from one of the many books that you will find surrounding. This ship carries a very extensive library with audio and video programming. You will find internet stations with access to the New York Times.
The Crows Nest, which is usually used as an observatory during the day, explodes in the evening with a mixture of state of the art lighting and sound. Here is a place where you can dance the night away. Or for a quieter type of evening stroll into the piano bar where you will find an evening of gentle relaxation, while you sip on a glass of wine.
If you’re looking to stay slim and trim during your voyage then the Fitness Centre can take care of all your needs. This state of the art room has all the equipment that you will need to accomplish your goals with exercise and weight training equipment. You can also take advantage of the tennis, volley ball or basketball sports that you will find on board.
For the ultimate in relaxation visit the Greenhouse Spa and Beauty Salon. Here you will leave all your stresses behind as you enjoy a massage or aromatherapy. You will find that this ship is very family friendly. This shows in the amount of programs that are offered for children of all ages. Teens can hang out at the Loft, where there are many activities offered. Or at the Oasis where they can dance and have a load of fun.
