The Zenith is the baby of Celebrity cruise ships with a marked difference in the tonnage of other ships. The Zenith lacks the size of the 90,280 ton of the other Millennium ships weighing in at just 47,225 tons. You will find no alternative restaurants, no atrium and only one pool. So why would you want to take a cruise on this ship? The reason is simple - the smallness of this ship can reach harbours that the larger ships can’t and take you to places that are not visited by the larger ships. For example, the Zenith can dock at a much more convenient location when going into Bermuda, while larger ships have to dock at Bermuda’s West end. There is also an advantage of sailing in the Zenith if you are on a budget. The prices are much cheaper and this ship offers a four day cruise up to a 10 day cruise. This 9 deck ship that carries a crew of 670 will win you over the moment you go onboard.
Accommodations
This wonderful ship holds 673 suites and cabins, but you won’t find any with balconies. However there are 22 suites, 503 with an ocean view and 148 inside. They all have the standard space, which is 172 square feet except for the Penthouse and they are just what is needed to enjoy your cruise even if there are no balconies. The cabins are spacious and offer ample storage room. The bathrooms are spacious with lots of storage space.
All cabins have 2 lower beds that convert into a double bed plus a telephone, electronic safe, hair dryer and an individual air control. With the higher priced suites there are additional amenities that come with them such as duvets, pillow top mattresses, and welcome aboard Champagne. If you’re looking for relief from the big liners and the crowds, then this is the ship your looking for. The crew that sails on this ship is the most attentive crew you will ever wish to find and more than makes up for the small size of the ship.
Dining
The Caravelle Restaurant is the only formal restaurant on the Zenith. It serves dinner in two sittings in the evening and breakfast and lunch is served on an open seating plan. As with some of the Zenith’s sister ships you will not find the same elegant décor that you find on them, but rather a beautifully done room that is cast in soft colours of peach and mauve. Both the food and the service are stunning. Delight your palette with melt in your mouth lamb carved off the shank in front of you or a mild fillet of cod served under a blanket of baked bread crumbs. You might like to try American turkey spiced with a flavourful stuffing. Everything from salad dressing to ice cream is made fresh onboard daily.
The other option that the Zenith offers for eating is the Windsurf Café and The Grill both located on deck 11. Here you can start off with a limited breakfast served in buffet style. There is also a lunch buffet for the passengers that would rather not eat formally. Here you can get salads, soups and sandwiches just about anytime of the day. They also have a pizza and pasta service that you can use for the in between times.
In the evening, the Windsurf Café becomes a sushi bar, while on the starboard side it converts into evening dining, but not exactly what you would get at the Caravelle’s menu. However, there is a plus to dining here. Both places allow casual dress. Reservations may be required and it is optional to leave a $2.00 gratitude for the waiters. On the Zenith you will also find a 24 hour room service in place.
Entertainment
The Zenith may not have the size you would expect in a cruise ship but it des know how to show its passengers a good time. It boasts a Carnival like atmosphere and plenty of opportunity to let your hair down while onboard.
During the day you can pass the time playing one of the many games such as bingo, pool games, art auctions, wine auctions. There is also a new lecture program which you will fine very interesting and, of course, you can watch movies in the Celebrity Theatre.
For evening entertainment, you can take in a Broadway show in the Celebrity Theatre which uses a full live orchestra for their productions. You can also see acts from comedians, singers, dancers, and various variety acts. There are other acts performances all through the ship in the evening such as a dance duo in the Rendez-Vous Lounge, find a pianist in the Michel’s Club, a guitar trio in the Cova Café and then there is the ship’s band in the Rainbow Room. If this is not your fancy, then you can try your luck in the Mayfair Casino, which has a wide variety of tables and slot machines, Texas Holdem is a favourite. If you’re going to Bermuda, then you will enjoy the deck parties that are held on this trip.
